For those of you who didn’t have to suffer the pain of a History of Photography class, you may not be aware that you can turn virtually anything into a camera obscura - including an entire room, or in this case, a garbage dumpster. Huh, you say?
To turn a living room, for example, into a camera, you use a product that used to be extremely common but for all I know doesn’t exist anymore: Liquid Light. Liquid light was a silver-based light-sensitive emulsion that you could paint on any surface, then expose and develop it like paper.
To turn a trash can into a camera, you just use a big ass piece of photographic paper…. and that’s exactly what abnormally artsy sanitation workers Christoph Blaschke, Mirko Derpmann, Hans-Peter Strahl, Roland Wilhelm, Max Soller, Michael Pfohlmann, and Werner Bünning (all from Hamburg, Germany) did.
They dubbed themselves: The Trashcam Project and honestly the images they created are wayyyyyy better than you would think for a trash can pinhole. Seriously, go check it out.
Special thanks to Masa Kepic for the heads up ;)
